Photolab 9 Masks and OS Tahoe update

After updating my OS to Tahoe, PhotLab masks have become virtually useless. The only masking tool that appears to be working in any reasonable way is the auto brush. Selecting ‘subject’ results in ‘no subject found’, even when the subject stands out like a sore thumb.
MacBookPro M1Pro, 32gb RAM.
Has anyone else experienced the issue?

Fixed the problem by uninstalling the software and re-installing. Seems to work okay but the subject mask isn’t that great.

I didn’t have any problem with any of PL9 on Tahoe, having installed it on Sequoia previously.

As has been discussed on other threads, the subject mask is like any AI subject mask (in any software) — it will work better on some images than others.

I recommend you take all of the AI masks not as “instant masks” but as “good starting points”.

If I have a shot of a dark bird agasint a clear blue sky, the mask is instant. If I have a mottled bird in foliage, it’s a remarkably good time saver, all things considered. Sometimes, even I have trouble figuring out where edges are.

Thanks for your response. As I said, I fixed the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling
the software. It is now working. Still a bit laggy at times. Yes it is a case of trying different masking options and seeing how they perform and overall PL masking does an incredible job. As for ‘subject selection’, I tried it on a fly agaric mushroom with a dark uncluttered background and it still couldn’t find it. But I will persist.
I still believe this is a great piece of software and prefer it to Lightroom and over time it’s capabilities will be enhanced.
