Hi,
I’m not sure to be in the correct location …
If in ADOBE Bridge 14 a custom Label is used, i.e different than “Red” or “Green” (In preferences / Labels) then when opening in PL8 the labels become white in PL8 AND in Bridge i.e. all is mixed !!!
If I turn back to the default labels legends in Bridge : everything is fine, green & red on both universes!
The “Label” tag is just a string of characters, with no implicit values. It all depends on which values are chosen by either the software author or the user. There is no standard.
According to MWG or IPTC, the field is meant for some other use. Many apps seem to have followed each other to misuse it for colour tags.
Original use:
A word or short phrase that identifies a resource as a member of a
userdefined collection.
NOTE: One anticipated usage is to organize resources in a file browser.

If I may just add, Adobe uses the localised colour names so, writing Rouge on a French machine will not be read as Red on an English machine and will more than likely end up as grey or white.
Strictly, the tag is part of the XMP namespace, not IPTC.
