PhotoLab 8 Deep Prime and XD - "Save has failed" error

I’m sorry if this has already been addressed - please point me in the right direction if so.

If I attempt to use Deep Prime or XD/XD2s on NEF files from a Nikon Z6iii, I get the error "Save has failed - Internal error (Connectioon failed at the Execute stage). (Windows 10 installation)

This happens almost every time. Can someone tell me if this is a program error or a pilot error, please?

Many thanks,

Steve

Hello there and welcome.

Any chance you are shooting with Nikon sRAW?
I’m not sure that PL supports those due to they are not true raw files.

Thanks for your reply. No, I’m using “normal” RAW. All the photos i prices with HQ or Prime noise reduction prices perfectly well.

@spwalker Photolab V8.1.0 Saves failing you raised this issue and I responded.

I am sorry if my response was too detailed but with the old Topic and this new one failing to get a lot of responses the problem does not appear to be that widespread but as my post showed I had also experienced the same problem with NEF images but it was a transient issue, which I have raised with support.

Have you raised a support request with snapshots of your problem?

To even attempt to understand your specific issue we need to understand why @spwalker is being singled out for this treatment by DxPL, i…e. machine and graphics card details, OS details, location of the images and the exports, and the nature of the edits applied to those images before you attempt to export etc.

I understand your frustration and I offered to attempt to create a batch of your images with your DOPs to see if it was possible to recreate the problem on my hardware and that offer still stands.

It may not help you, but I’m also using DeepPrime XD and XD2s regularly on NEF from Z6iii with no issue on my Mac mini.
For information my NEF are with High Efficiency compression, but any choice for compression should be ok anyway.

Could you upload a raw file to try out?

Hi, Wolfgang. Thanks for the suggestion. I haven’t uploaded a file, but your suggestion gave me the idea (which I should have thought of myself!) of trying the same file on my other PC, a Win 11 Laptop.

Deep Prime worked fine, so I repaired the Photolab 8 installation on my main PC and Lo! Deep Prime works OK now.

Deep Prime XD/XD2s works OK on my laptop but not on my main PC. So the problem is somehow with my hardware, not with PL.

Not sure how to proceed, frankly; but Deep Prime will do for almost everything and I can use the Laptop if need be. So I can close this thread.

Sorry for wasting people’s time :frowning:

@spwalker Thank you for keeping me informed, in your first Topic on this subject you wrote

so the problem had occurred occasionally with PL7, on the desktop I presume (?) i.e. with the GTX 1650 Super GPU and now more so with PL8.

I suggest that a good second hand RTX 2060 might well fix that issue at a reasonable price (albeit my two export issues occurred on my 5900X with an RTX 2060 card fitted!?)
