PhotoLab 8 - can't browse photo library properly

I submitted a support ticket- but basically I can only browse one photo at a time. Also the UI dock for the photo library that has the photo scale, filter, sorting is not showing up.

7 doesn’t have this issue, what I find interesting is I think it did show up ONCE- when I first installed 8 today. My build is 8.0.0 build 32. Running MacBook Pro M3, 36 GB Ram, Sonoma 14.6.1 (23G93).

Anyone else bumping into this issue? Just wondering. Hopefully I get answer or patch with the support ticket. DXO has been pretty good in the last few years and I love PhotoLab.

Not sure what’s going on, but it sounds like your workspace settings might be messed up. And you might be using a filter in the image browser. Just checking:

Are your video drivers up-to-date?

You’re not browsing the same folder with both PL7 and PL8, are you?

Found the issue. The horizontal bar that still splits a single image vs the thumbnails in photo library view, can be dragged all the way down to the point the thumbnails group just isn’t visible. Saw there was a thin horizontal bar, tried to drag it up and there it was.

Closed my ticket but suggested to look at it as a UI usability bug. PhotoLab 7 indeed behaves the same.

Check the keyboards shortcuts for the Image browser / Filmstrip (in Customize).
( don’t know for Mac )

This was not the issue I had but thanks. Please check my previous reply.

My issue is solved. You could say “I was holding it wrong” but I also think maybe DXO can make the UI to avoid getting in that state a bit better.

which is why I suggested to check the equivalent keyboard shortcut.
( in the Windows version Ctrl + F9 brings the thumbnails back )

Sorry for that and thanks for trying to help.

So it wouldn’t show the thumbnails if you had dragged down the bar UI all the way to the bottom but the dock UI of filtering/sorting shows up. At least tends to suggest that maybe you can drag it up again tos how the thumbnails (which you can).

Well, it has been like this since long. – There is also an option to undock the Filmstrip, which can be irritating when you come across the first time. Just get used to …

grafik
shown for Windows

… is handy if you want it be positioned on a separate monitor.

  • Ctrl+U … to toggle between docked and floating

  • Ctrl+f9 … to toggle between Image Browser displayed, or not.

What would be nice is that shortcuts for setting color label work in image browser too.

I use image browser on separate monitor.
If I select image(s) in image browser and use CTRL+ALT+number, it does nothing unless I click in main interface first (on the other screen).
This is annoying to switch from one to the other (move mouse from one screen to the other and click) and do it again and again when I set those colors for different group of images.
This happens both in photolibrary and customize mode.

CTRL+number for rating stars on the other hand works in both interfaces (main and image browser).

PL6.12 PC. Is it the same in PL8 ?
