PhotoLab 10 GPU requirements - what happens if I'm below minimum spec?

Hi All, I have just seen the release of PhotoLab 10 and it looks really interesting.

I have looked at the system requirements and the question I have is concerning the GPU.
I have a NVidia RTX 2060/6GB which was ok for PL9 and it worked fine, but PL 10 says the minimum is RTX3000/8GB.

My question is what will happen if I install PL10? I can put up with it going a bit slow for the AI features, but I don’t really want to upgrade if it’s just going to refuse to work!

Upgrading my GPU is not an option as it’s a laptop and replacing the whole laptop is definitely not in my financial plans at the moment.

Any help/comments would be gratefully received.

There is only one way to find out whether it will work to your satisfaction. Install and test the free 30 day PL 10 trial.

My laptop has a GTX1050ti so way below spec. I am having trouble exporting sometimes, not always. Currently rolling back my Nvidia driver to see if that fixes the problem.

Honestly YMMV.

My 1080Ti is significantly older than the suggested 3xxx range of nVidia GPUs in the minimum spec list, but I can use AI masking without any issues (it’s not fast, but it’s not as if there isn’t fair warning about that, although it’s a shame as other providers have a bit of an edge on speed/usability in their software).

As @mwsilvers suggests, try the trial and see for yourself.

PL10 works pretty well for me, although one kind of exporting is slow as molasses (DeepPrime XD3) vs. similar export attempts in PL9.

Thanks to everyone for their comments, the obvious answer as mwsilvers suggests is for me to try it. I should have worked that out myself really…

Just my 2 cents worth - I do see now that the minimum VRAM is now 8 GB up from 6 GB in V9. I have NVIDIA with 4 GB - The basic AI masks work in V9, but there is a limit on how many you can have in an image. Too many and the export functions will fail. And the limit on how many is too many depends on the level of noise reduction selected for me. Also the size of the image probably is a factor - I’m using 20 MPIX images. But the number was very reasonable and I was happy (I had to have around 4-6 or more regular AI masks to get a failure). I have tried the depth masks in the latest Color FX and they don’t work at all with my system setup, but the regular AI masks still work the same. Now that the VRAM requirements have increased, I would be worried that the regular AI masks will work differently also. I too will have to try before I buy. :wink: Hope this helps someone.
