Photolab 10 crashes at startup, solution (9060XT 16GB)

Hello group, new user here.

I have used Photolab 10 first with a 1060 6 GB video card, today I upgraded to 9060XT 16GB.

After the new video card installation the program would not start, after the welcome screen the program stops.

I found an solution. I started the program in Windows 8 compatibility mode. Then set AI function to CPU. Start up the program in normal mode. Now it runs. Change the AI function back to the videocard.

Then set Windows ML Acceleration to compatibility. Turn on OpenCL.

In my case the program starts up after this change of settings. If I set Windows ML Acceleration back to maximum performance the program will not start the next time.

If the program will not start again, go back to Windows 8 compatibility mode and change settings in Photolab.

I’m not sure it helps, but have you tried uninstalling PhotoLab, restart PC and install PL again?

Thanks, yes, I tried that first. uninstall PL10, reboot, install. But then the program shuts down at the welcome screen again.

The problem is the Windows ML Acceleration setting, at maximum performance makes the program shut down at the start. Compatibility mode gives no problem.

It is only a hassle to get there, going to Windows 8 mode, and back again.

Maybe someone from DXO can explain the difference for Windows ML Acceleration mode? I doubt it makes any difference, PL10 runs smooth on my computer, with ASUS 9060XT 16 GB, AMD 5700X and 24GB memory.

Did you uninstall the NVidia driver (with DDU)? I would test uninstalling PL10, then DDU with all drivers and clean reinstall 9060XT and then PL10.

Thanks, and no I did not use DDU yet, just erased all Nvida drivers and programs and reboot.

Might be that there still is some residu of the old drivers so thanks for the tip.

Maybe this is only my single user case that I go from Nvidia to AMD and then this problem shows up. When the program dit not start I wondered what to do, going to Windows 8 mode was the rescue.

I did download DDU and I have to remove the drivers in Windows safe mode, I can try this tonight and see if the Machine Learning setting can be changed to maximum performance. If not then there is a bug in de AMD drivers and/or PL 10.
