FilmPack 7 integrates completely into PhotoLab 8, so that you can open PEF files in PhotoLab and gain all the benefits of things like precision optical corrections and DeepPRIME noise reduction, then directly access the FilmPack tools without swapping apps.
The Pentax *ist D, released in 2003, is not listed in the DxO supported camera/lens database and I therefore assume raw files from that model are not supported which would account for the problem you are seeing. Converting unsupported raw files to DNG files will still be unsupported because the underlying raw file must be from a supported camera model. JPEG files should be supported.
As you are probably aware, the K 10D is a supported camera body.
@Joanna, I suspect he is not a PhotoLab user. In any case, while the standalone version of FilmPack does open raw files, it doe not appear that the Pentax *ist D is a supported camera in the database.
@Joanna, the issue he is having is not with the K10D, it is with its predecessor, the Pentax *ist D. His original post was a little difficult to follow because he initially mentioned the K10D which really had nothing to do with his reason for posting. Additionally the model previous to the K10D is very oddly named which at first confused me. Here is a link to a review of that model.
Ah. OK. In that case, IMO, he should convert the RAW files (DNG or PEF) into TIFF, to retain as much detail and range as possible. But he is still never going to be able to denoise them like he would a RAW.
@Joanna, he already has the K10D, and the link he provided was to his website where he displays a few images captured with it. He had no problem using the K10D raw images in Filmpack.
This thread is really just about the problems with the raws from the Pentax *ist D which he apparently acquired after he purchased the K10D. That is why this thread is difficult to follow since he initially focuses on a camera not at all related to the title of the thread.
