La vasque olympique dans le ciel de Paris

I know so little about the olympics, that my two questions might be “obvious”

First, is something burning in the balloon, causing the smoke to go off to the left?

Also, there is a vertical line going up to the balloon - is that a “mooring line”?

I love the colors (sunset?), and the castle (?)

I know a little about the olympics too…
It’s not real fire: it’s lights plus sprayed water to simulate fire and fumes.
The balloon is on air from sunset to 2 am, else it’s on the ground in the Jardin des Tuileries, in the centre of Paris.
The black cable provides the balloon with power and is there to move it up and down.
The “castle” is at the end of one of the wings of Le Louvre, it was the palace where the kings and queens lived from the 14th century to the French Revolution. Then it became a museum.
