Would really like to see what you do with good images, so.
Let us see when you’ll have some.
And enjoy your Z8. Would really like to have one.
Have a smooth trip Stenis.
You are absolutely spot on with regard to C1 AI masking. Point and click to mask, feather and/or refine with a simple slider. Everything else is tedious, yes it can be done but when you know there is a much easier way…
Maybe V9 or 10?
The wayward auto white balance of your original file gave me a nice nudge to try out the new ‘hover over to preview’ option in PL8 for the various conversion options on offer. It was great not having to click on an option to be able to see a preview of it - it’s quicker to hover over and it kept the history log nice and tidy too. Converting to B&W made the WB easy to solve, but I think I did okay with the colour version too.
Thanks for sharing the original nef file. The noise and detail at 22800 iso is very, very good imo. More impressive than my Z6ii can produce at that value. Enjoy your new camera!
Thank you for posting this. Also, thank you for getting the gist of this exercise… It never was about the image. The image was a bad snapshot that I took when I first got the camera… I was looking at the auto WB, the ISO noise, the (outstanding) eye tracking, etc.
Of course, I knew the image was challenging so I thought it would be a great test to try out and learn Photolab. I’m convinced it still was/is.
I also got a nice color image by correcting the WB.
As for the camera, the Z8 is just amazing. I’m a super happy customer in that regard.
