Hi
I have Nik Collection 6 which works well with both Photoshop and Affinity 2.
I have just downloaded the new, free, I think Affinity 3 software which does not seem to recognise the Nik plugins. I am aware that the new Affinity has only been released for a few days and it is possible that DXO has not upgraded for the new Affinity. Has anyone had similar problems or is something that i am doing wrong? I am using Imac intel with Ventura. Thanks in advance. J
Iâve had the same difficulties, as it appears many others have, regarding compatibility between Nik Collection and the latest Affinity upgrade. Iâve also read that DxO will like provide an update in short order, so it may be soonâŚfingers crossed.
It does not work as a plug in to Apple Photos either.
I have Affinity Photo 2 and Nik Collection 6. When I installed the new (free) version (3) of Affinity the installer ignored everything about my AFP2 installation, i.e. the Nik plugins were not installed. It was easy to install them manually though:
- Open AFP2 and in Settings, in the Photoshop Plugins section, click on the âopen the default folderâ button.
- Close AFP2.
- Open AF3 and in Settings, in the Photoshop Plugins section, click on the âopen the default folderâ button.
- Close AF3
That leaves you with two File Explorer Windows open.
a) In the Window that shows the content of the AFP2 plugin folder, select and copy the DXO folder.
b) Switch to the Window showing the content of the AF3 plugin folder and paste the DXO folder in there.
c) Open AF3 and in Settings, in the Photoshop Plugins section, tick the âallow unknown pluginsâ box.
d) Close and reopen AF3.
Job done, at least it was for me.
No, they still do not work properly even while they are visible. You can open your image in Nik from Affinity but there is no way to send it back (Apply/Save) - you can just export it as a file.
Yes, same for me - after copying the plugins to the new Affinity folder I can open NIK plugins but the âApplyâ button isnât there.
Ah, yes, my mistake. You can open the Nik 6 filters but you canât apply them. Thatâs a disappointment. However, if this problem is something that DxO needs to fix, I canât see them doing it for anything other than the latest version 8 of Nik Collection.
However! you can open and apply ye olde worlde Nik 1 filters.
8.2 of the Nik Collection was just released but it didnât fix the problem in Affinity. Still no Apply button.
Thanks for the heads up. Iâll wait to upgrade to V8 until itâs fixed.
Nik Collection V8 works fine with Affinity Photo V2. I have not tried yet the Canvas version.
Are there any updates on a fix for this?
Not from DxO (as far as I know). Have you checked with Affinity?
Yes! DxO have released updates for NIK 6, 7 & 8 that correct the lack of an âApplyâ button when these collections are used with the new, free, version of Affinity by Canva. See this (and subsequent) post on a topic on an Affinity forum:
