New PhotoLab v9.5 Unable to read Sony A7V Lossy Compressed RAW files

Hello,

Just upgraded to the new PhotoLab v9.5. It is unable to open my lossy compressed Sony A7V RAW files ( It still says “This image cannot be processed as this RAW format is not supported”.

I tried shooting a couple of lossless RAW files with my A7V and PhotoLab is able to open + process them.

Can you please fix this bug? @Marie

Thanks

I imagine you think this is a bug because DxO hasn’t clearly documented that Sony’s new compressed RAW format(s) from this camera aren’t supported. I believe DxO needs to clarify that, and they’re not alone. I see that Adobe hasn’t initially supported lossy RAW files from this camera, either. It isn’t clear to me if that is changing. Unfortunately, DxO might not ever support it if it’s just a matter of updating this FAQ article to include the new camera:

Are additional RAW formats (such as sRAW, mRAW, RAW-S, etc.) supported if a camera’s standard RAW images are compatible? – Help center

Note the phrase “such as” which puts the emphasis in the article on compressed RAW formats in general (rather than specific kinds).

Of course, DxO has the final word on this. I hope they are able to add support for such file formats, but also know they aren’t likely to make promises.

I have PL9.7 on a W11 laptop, and it has body support for the A7V. There seem to be profiles too, for most of the Sony lenses I used to own before I switched to OMDS. Are you maybe on Mac?

don’t know what pl9.7 is u talking about photolab(would think it was the same raw processor) ??? I don’t have that, I am talking pureraw6.1.0 .

I don’t plan on getting photolab either.

Sony A7V is supported. You could have checked that yourself: Appareils supportés - DxO

However, you need to should use losless compressed, not compress HQ or Raw Compress. As the release notes mention.

I’m on Mac, I have the A7V and it works perfectly well as long as you use losless compressed and not the other two raw options, as mentioned by DXO.

If you have PureRaw (PR), it is unclear to me why you posted in the PhotoLab (PL) section of the DXO users’ forum. As I haven’t got any Sony hardware, I am unable to test whether the latest versions of PL (or indeed PR) now support the new lossy compressed RAW formats - up until now all the DXO software I have licensed (starting about 2012) has supported all the Sony formats for my A-Mount and E-Mount cameras.
