Need help with colour balance

Hello everybody, this is my first post although I have been using DXO for more than 10 years.
On Saturday I shot a small concert with horrible light. To have moderate noise only, I shot fully open with both an ancient 28mm and a supported 85 1.4 Nikkor on a D850.
After a few sample shots I noticed that my white balance was way off (results were VERY orange). I changed the white balance in the camera 2 times (auto, auto natural and incandescant).
Still looked awful on preview.

So I said to myself… DXO will fix it.
But there is always a first time, I failed.
First one: DXO tungsten setting.

Second one 2760 K, 0 Tint, Orange desaturated
Sorry must put in second post… new user

I promised half decent pictures but so far I only managed to produce NB.

Thank you in advance

here is the second one

Personally I’d start with this one, (DSC_9712_DXO) and reintroduce colour saturation carefully and via layers rather than universally. The skin of your performer looks pale here but more realistic, but her lips etc. could be accentuated somewhat. Then I’d up the saturation on the wall behind her and get her hair looking a bit richer.

I see what you mean about horrible light. I’ve shot in that kind of place myself - editing it was painful!

Personally, I always shoot RAW at 5600°K and then adjust in PL. But, no matter what order you do it in, WB in a RAW file is always editable, even after the fact.

Instead of going for preset WB, simply slide the temperature until it looks about right.

Or you can use the pipette on either the microphone basket or on the keyboard.

Try it and see what you get.

I’ve found the pipette to be very useful at quickly getting to the right ballpark look that I want (or to help me imagine an image as more than an over-hot or cool mess).

thank you

By layers you mean masks and filters? You see I have a selection of 24 pics and these all have an orange cast like an old negative. I remember scanning those and I did something at the time in a PS mix of channel mixing, desaturation and levels. Only this was ~25 years ago and I can’t remember HOW I did it in the end. I even looked in ColourEfex «equilibre des blancs»

The pipette was the first thing I used. It bottoms out at 2000K and -16 tint. The tint varies a bit between -10 and -20.
The result is text marker yellow.

To Joanna (sorry system prevents me from a personal reply)

Yes, we are talking PL. No JPGs there. But I can’t upload a RAW here.
Like I said above, pipette on the accordion or on 2 other items yields 2000K and between -20 and -10 tint.
In FastRawViewer, which ONLY views and does NOT process, I can set the temperature even lower. That actually looks better

So, are the digital images RAW or JPEG?
