Miniature effect WITHOUT Viewpoint

Hey… fairly new to PL and still learning. I like the miniature (tilt/shift) effect for the occasional image and was wondering if it can be easily done if you don’t have VP.

I’ve just added a graduated filter top and bottom of an image and blurred them and it’s pretty good - is that how I might get close the effect without VP?

…sounds plausible.

If you’d like to have a comparison, you can post the original raw file and its .dop sidecar and someone with VP can add a version.

Good idea. I cannot seem to upload the DNG as it’s too big. Here’s the exported JPG - it just has two local adjustments as mentioned.

Try dropbox or wetransfer.com and post the link here…

Sorry - not thinking straight. Do’h. Here’s a Google Drive link:

Your approach seems to work fine. Here are a few exports to illustrate:

They do look pretty close. To be honest I’d literally ‘threw’ those local adjustments on with no finesse so I reckon I can make it look better with more effort.

Thanks for doing the comparison.
