Hi everyone,
It would be awesome being able to import external images as masks. Currently, I have to switch to a different program for this single step.
My specific use case is in focus-stacked macro photography. After stacking a large number of pictures, I can generate depth maps, which are incredibly useful for depth based masking. Having this capability built-in would be huge.

You are bundling multiple feature requests into one. Fortunately, most of what you’re asking for is already covered in existing feature requests that have already accumulated a lot of votes. Search the forum for them and you will find them.
May I suggest that this new feature request topic be concerned only with importing external images to use as masks?

thank you for your comment. I was searching for both topics to see if I could find existing feature requests - it seems that I didn’t use the right keywords. As you suggested, I changed the request and updated it.
