Mark images in library

Are there a convenient way to go through your library, consisting of many folders and mark images in some of them. Then collect a copy, or a link, to these image in another real or virtual folder?

I am going through all my old images and want to pick out images for a future project.

Welcome @Northbynorthwest

Look at “Projects” in the PhotoLibrary tab. Projects are a virtual collection of photos from across any/many folders created by the user.

-Create a new project and give it a name.
-Drag photos from each folder into the project.
-Alternately, use the search function to find your photos if they have a common metadata field. then drag all or desired imaged to the "Project.
-The photos in the project can be edited, exported, etc. as desired.

The “Project” exists virtually in Photolab’s hidden database. So if this database is corrupted or lost, the “Project” (collection of photos) is lost. You could add a specific keyword, such as ‘Favorites’, or other metadata field entry to all photos to recreate the “Project”, if the database is lost.

Search the PL manual and other forum posts for more info on “Projects”.
