Make Nik and Export buttons palletable

Considering most of us likely do the bulk of our editing in Customize mode, it seems an unfortunate oversight to not have the Nik Collection and Export buttons as something that can be a pallet for the user to place wherever they wish. Or, possibly put another button near the top of the right column that will then open the column with those items (and anything else the user wishes to add to the column).

Yes. To increase the size of the image being worked on, I often hide the image browser , which then hides the Nik and Export buttons. I’m then must re-open the image browser to access the buttons. Besides, these two buttons seem to be associated more logically with the particular image being worked on rather than the image browser.

A single click of the File menu (in the Customize mode) will bring up the export options, including to Nik, to disk, and to applications. I don’t see how what’s being proposed here would be superior to this already-available operation. Maybe adding hotkeys would help, though.

Totally agree the way Nik is integrated is dumb because I need two different Nik Settings depending if I want to do a fist edit or re-edit the image. For a new Edit I need to export a TIFF. For re-editing the image in the TIFF (which Nik now allows) I need to first change the setting so Nik open the file and do not create yet another new TIFF file. Beside that issue, Photolab does not indicate which Nik plugin was used so I need to remember that myself. It is like the developper never used that implementation in real life. It is very stupid. And it is not hard to fix either.

But only in the windows version, on Mac the items are disabled. Only cmd-k is working ….

Remember as I mentioned this export has settings in the Nik Setting menu. If you edit the image fo the first time you need to export the TIFF. But if you try to re-work an existing edit (a feature added to Nik8) you must go to the settings and set them so there is NO EXPORT so Nik reload the existing edited TIFF and not reload a new one. It is a PITA.
