It’s October so i thought to check for a new version and yes there it is.!
I wanted to let you know my first impression of the new front page wasn’t great. The low quality header photos in the slider are VERY noticeable. You butchered the photos with that compression. Its very noticeable and not appealing.
You’re a photography site…I suggest you put high quality photos to WOW us in upgrading…
When you contact DxO support, it would be helpful to state exactly what is wrong with the images you identify as poor quality. My own opinion is that compression isn’t the problem.
I think it’s great that DxO is now using a rotation of images for the splash screen. In the past, these were focused on noise reduction and vibrant color. I didn’t always connect with those images in a positive way (especially recently), whereas I find the current batch more pleasing and inspiring. The image of the man in the T-shirt leaping above stone blocks: are there compression artifacts? It won’t be sharp the way you’re viewing it, but I think it looks OK on the splash screen. On the other hand, the mountain image you indicate at the bottom of your screen capture is overprocessed, with severe haloing along the tops of the trees (probably from ClearView Plus and/or local adjustment masks). I do think DxO blundered with that one.
Yes the mountain one is the one i tried to capture also the bird.
If you check they are 1400px wide upscaled to 1900 in browser and overcompressed. Shame, on desktop noticeable (to me)
I’m a webdeveloper and build such pages daily. Would never use such an image for the hero section
