I’ve been using PL8 for a few months, getting used to the workflow coming from ON1 Photo Raw.
Really pleased with this image from recent low key photoshoot.

Although I don’t like the lady (e.g. person/topic mismatch) and perhaps the lens is too wide for me, I like this photo. It can stay in mind but I would like a slightly different geometry Overall, it has character, so please forget all my negative remarks.
There are some minor artifacts on the cheek just under the pinks which maybe came from the microcontrast setting (assuming it was a low ISO photo). In similar cases I usually use negative microcontrast and tune fine contrast and lens corrections accordingly. If that doesn’t help, just add a bit of B/W grain to get the “right” balance. In some low ISO cases XD2s can also help, perhaps at Luminance=20. Note that I’m not a fan of local adjustments, which perhaps could do the job better.
BTW, PL should really add some texture/dithering options, but that’s another story.
Thanks for your critique.
I wanted plenty of space around my model (my niece ) to emphasise the solitary feel.
The ‘artefacts’ on her cheek is her natural skin texture and the makeup she is using.
I tend not to smooth out the skin too much on female models, I hate the artificial ‘porcelain doll’ look.
I will be entering in a club comp as is soon.
