Why does Lightroom always jump to a new DXO collection after importing the photos?
I start editing from Lightroom, PureRaw then passes the image back to Lightroom and creates a new import collection and jumps there.
But I want Lightroom to stay in the folder where the original photo is and where the DXO photo is stored.
Why does it always jump to a collection?
It used to work with an older version (4).
Thanks
Stephan

Both Lightroom and Capture One has no other alternative because what they have in common is an import-procedure that force the users to “import” the images to their picture databases before they can use them.
Of these three it is only Photolab that works right on the the folders and files in the file system. Personally I think the PL approach to this is far better than both LR and C1 because that is a huge advantage when integrating with third party viewers or for example external picture libraries and metadata maintenance tools. That also opens up for a scalability the others just dont have.
The only advantage I think I have seen is that both LR and C1 are much faster than PL and can handle far more pictures rapidly than PL Image Library but since we always have the possibility to open a selection of any size in an external tool with PL even that is a problem that can be handled without any bigger problems.
Try it by yourselves using for example the very useful and powerful XnView, which is free by the way if you don’t feel for contributing. It only takes a minute or two to configure for the integration, that’s all.
The only way to get Photolab to open the pictures in the library where they are stored is to use another tool like XnView that also works the same way like Photolab does and references the picture by it’s search patch to the original. Let’s say that was a RAW LR will have to use a DNG or maybe a TIF as an intermediate file format, and that is not the origial file is it. LR picks the edits from it’s database and adds them to the DNG-exchangefile before sending it to Photolab and that DNG was never in the original file folder, was it?
In Capture One it seems like the picture has to be present in the database too if it shall open it in Collection. If it is not, C1 will instead start up an import-procedure urging you to sellect/pick and import the selection.
These processes are deal breakers for me. I think the DXO Photolab solution is a relly important selling point using Photolab instead of Lightroom when integration with third part tools but sadly I think many Photolab users are totally unaware of these advantages.
It makes sense too: Imagine collecting images from several folders. When PureRAW has now completed processing that collection, which folder should it open? No folder will contain all output images, unless you export to a custom folder. Check out PureRAW’s export settings.
It is because the process of bringing in images processed by PR uses the import function in LR, and whenever importing images into LR it puts all those images into a “Previous Import” catalogue item and takes the user straight to it, LR assumes after importing images you want to see them
Some early versions of 4.xx did things differently.
On my girlfriend’s laptop, Lightroom doesn’t jump to the folder, but stays in the one selected.
