Lens sharpness no longer appears on Deep Prime XD

p Prime XD and the correct lens module is downloaded. Please help

Lens sharpness is called lens softness since some upgrade (v7 ?) because it is not supposed to be a sharpen tool but a tool to correct softness weakness of lenses.

You should have the lens softness function with 3 parameters : global, detail and bokeh.

Lens Softness is actually the original name for the correction. It is a sharpening tool, though.

If you’ve been using a custom workspace, you might need to make some changes to it in order to see all of the tools in PhotoLab. (You can add or remove palettes as you wish, but upgrading PhotoLab doesn’t automatically alter these custom workspaces when there have been changes to the tools.)

Additonally, the older reference to Lens sharpness, now Lens Softness Compensation, is not related to DeepPRIME XD. It is a separate feature that is only available when there is a downloaded profile for the lens used to capture the image you are editing. When there is no available lens profile use the Unsharp mask instead. You indicate that the profile has been downloaded so look for the renamed Lens Softness Compensation feature. Sometimes, but not always, a modified version of that feature is also available for jpeg files.

LSC is not available for non-raw files. Maybe that’s the problem?

That is not entirely correct. It depends on the lens. A number of relatively new lenses which have received support in the last few years also have separate profiles for jpeg images. I have at least four lenses acquired since June of 2022 which also have profiles for jpegs. In my case they are all prime lenses.

Thanks for pointing that out.
I just checked with Z70-200/2.8 on Z8 jpeg exported with all metadata. LSC is not available, but CA is. Never used PL on jpeg before

I don’t normally edit my JPEGs either, but have done it on some occasions to compare the quality of the results and on a couple of occasions when I needed to send somebody a JPEG quickly. When you download profiles for lenses If there is a JPEG version, If I recall correctly, you will see it’s availability during the download.

It can come in handy fixing all the distortions and sharpness if you just want a quick and dirty edit of a JPEG file to send to someone. Since JPEGs already have the in camera settings applied, other than fixing lens distortions, I wouldn’t want to make any other edits.
