Using PL8.1 here, and having just returned from Barcelona I had 700 photos to process.
Well, it seems that all the performance issues I was experiencing with PL6/7 have disappeared.
I edited all 700 photos (many of them with lots of control points and clone/repair edits) without ever having to close the program and restart it: not even one single slowdown, while editing with previous versions tended to slow down after 100 photos.
I generally agree. PL7 had some performance improvements, but PL8 is on another level. Besides better handling of local adjustments, I’ve noticed that the ReShape tool works more smoothly (with a ViewPoint 5 license). Unfortunately, I’ve had freezes and crashes when doing a lot of work with local adjustments, along with some other problems. But I’m sure those will eventually get sorted out. We might even get some feature enhancements in a point update to PL8, since that just happened with PureRAW.
