Keyboard Hotkeys to Make Image Adjustments

When I think of PhotoMechanic and how CameraBits have spent more than 20 years to streamline the workflow there they have done quite a few things around these things even the last 4-5 years when I have been using it. No dramatic changes but just a number of fixes people have been suggesting over the years. I have lost track of how many maintenance releases I have got during years but they are many and there us to be a pretty long list of fixes in the release notes every time. There is a constant dialog between the users in their forum and CameraBits responsible Kirk Baker that has done a just brilliant job over these years.

It was through a suggestion in CameraBits Forum and later dialog I had with Kirk Baker that he fixed so even PhotoMechanic could pass selections of pictures to Photolab and External Searches, that did not work for-five years ago of some reason. He sent me a mail with a new version for test in three-four days for test and when I confirmed it worked, he promised this fix was going to be included in the next service release and also made a permanent feature and he has so far kept his word.

Capture One have had similar problems to cooperate with PhotoMechanic as PhotoMehanic earlier had and these were solved just in the very last release we got for version 6, before the support for that version was discontinued. They have released version 7 now, so version 6 support is now discontinued. of that reason.

I do think it would serve DXO well to have a junior engineer monitoring these forums for simple improvements and to implement them.

While I understand integrating into a complex piece of software isn’t always trivial some of these suggestions aren’t that hard.

Absolutely! We’re arguably their most vocal and dedicated fan base, right here.

Plus, many of these suggestions are good ones and - as you say - not too hard to implement (especially on a long enough timeline, and some of these have been talked about for years).

Until DxO adds adjustment hotkeys, a Stream Deck + is one way around it. I’m the developer of a Stream Deck plugin for PhotoLab, DxO PhotoLab Complete, so I’m not neutral. Its dials go straight to Exposure, Temperature, Tint, Contrast, Highlights and the Horizon slider, so you don’t have to click a slider first, which is the problem Franky describes. Pressing a dial resets most of those to zero. It’s on the Elgato Marketplace, and I’m glad to answer questions here.
