Kathmandu Tower before it was destroyed in an earthquake

On my last visit to Nepal, before an earthquake destroyed so much of the country, I went walking around Kathmandu with my camera. I didn’t have a wide-enough lens to get both the top and bottom of this tower, so this was my compromise. The bird was just a “bonus”. Camera was my old Canon Pro-1, which I still own, not that I’ll ever use it again. Actually, I took several photos, but this is my favorite. As I remember, I could have walked to the top, but I “chickened out”.

This is one of many photos I’ll never “get to be back to with a better camera”. My thoughts were “do the best you can with what you’ve got”. I far prefer the professional photo of the tower in the below link, but I also like what I created.

So sad.
