I am very keen to start investgating possible use of the JPG XL format JPEG XL - Wikipedia as it seems to have many possble advantages over some other file formats and is of course fully open and free. Do you have a development timeline for the addition of this as an export format as i am sure that plenty of other people would like to take a look at it as well
There is already a feature request open for this, going back to 2021:
New JXL JPEG file format - DxO PhotoLab / Feature requests - DxO Forum
DxO rarely participates in the forum - though they do look at activity here. There was a time that they would be forthcoming about development plans for something like this - however, they couldn’t stick with those plans and might have stopped communicating such things for that reason. The company I last worked for had great customer service - however, we were told not to discuss plans for future product releases. Seemed to be an industry standard practice.
When I searched that did not show up. never mind things have moved on a lot since 2021 and whilst I never really expected anyone to actually admit to anything on their development timelines I still think it is worth raising the topic again in the hope that doing so means that the topic gets discussed and therefore it becomes more likely to be implemented
For that, I think it’s best if votes and comments are added to the older feature request, which has 13 votes so far. DxO once had a gatekeeper managing and merging duplicate topics in the forum. Since this is no longer the case, starting over could be counter-productive, making the actual interest in a feature harder to gauge. At least I posted a link to the older request - that will mitigate the problem.
