Issue launching any Nik Collection 9.1 program - Splash screen just hangs

Hi

I’m running Windows 11 with a 5070Ti graphics card using the Nvidia 616.56 Studio drivers from 26/8/26.. I’ve updated to Nik Collection 9.1.1 and when I try to start any of the Nik programs the splash screen fires up and it then just hangs and hangs. I have to kill the program in Task Manager.

However if I disable the graphics card in Device Manager then the Nik programs start fine. When I re-enable my graphics card the Nik program goes back to hanging.

I can confirm that no other DxO program is having issues with my card (DxO ProRAW 6.6 and DxO FilmPack 8), neither are any other programs (games, Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop etc.) It’s just the Nik Collection.

Is anyone else having any similar issues? If so besides disabling the graphics card have you got round it? If so how?

I have a support ticket open with DxO Support but am just getting the standard: Download this, Cleanup that, Try this, Try that boiler plate stuff from them. Which I have followed but to no avail so far.

Users with PL and PR have been affected by this driver. Rolling back to the previous version 610.88 helped in most cases. Check it out.

(I don’t have Nik 9)

Thanks for that. It seems to have done the trick. Just a shame that DxO aren’t on top of things with Nvidia when they release a new driver.

That particular accusation doesn’t seem fair to me. DxO is communicating with nVidia. This appears to be an nVidia bug affecting a number of applications, not just DxO software.

I’m having the same issue, and would like to roll back the software update. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate the prior version on DXO’s website, and have not been able to find any guidance in the forums. I inadvertently deleted prior versions of installation files while doing some computer housecleaning. I have submitted a support ticket, but haven’t received a response.

That’s because DxO never make previous versions available for download. You have to keep your own back-ups of old installers.

Oops!

I can’t help you, but perhaps another user here will offer to share the previous installer with you.

If the problem is NVidia, go to their site to download the prior driver version. That has nothing to do with DxO.

If your Nik collection v9.1 is not running check DxO’s page for the current v9.1.1.

Thanks. I’m running Photolab 9 and 10 with no problems on the updated NVIDIA version, so I’m assuming that is not the issue, which only began after I downloaded and installed NIK Collection 9.1.1. Which to me means it’s the NIK update, not the graphics card. I’m assuming I am running the latest version since it was installed only 48 hours ago. After doing some more exploring, I realize that this issue is only happening when I try to open a file by launching a NIK Collection app through a program different from photolab (such as Affinity Photo). When I use photolab, it launches the program and opens the file into NIK Collections with no issue.

I’m currently working with DXO support. We’ll see what happens.

I had the same issue. DxO Support provided a link to a custom build of NikCollection9-9.1.1.5 specifically for users experiencing issues with the latest NVIDIA Studio Driver. Problem solved. Suggest you contact them for the link.

Thanks so much for the information. Much appreciated. I’ve been working with DXO to try to get a rollback from them, but it’s like pulling teeth trying to get them to respond in a timely manner. I will definitely see if I can get that updated software from them.

The Rollback fix actually worked on the NVIDIA Studio Driver by going back to the last update prior to the August 26 update. The custom file for Nik 9 is probably the best option for going forward because you can update the NVIDIA studio driver again.

I believe you’re correct. I’m hesitant about rolling back my nvidia graphics card software as I i’m concerned that it will affect my photolab software and it is working great right now. I’ve Appreciated your guidance on trying to resolve this issue.

on win 11 with 616.92 ndivia game ready driver, even standalone version is not working. it hangs on splash screen. what do you suggest?

Have you read this thread? – Rolling back the Nvidia driver (and using the Studio version) is said to have helped in some cases.

(please note – i don’t have Nik 9.x)

rolled back to .56 grd version. same problem

used ddu to completely clean Nvidia drivers then:

reinstalled .56 studio version. same problem

then updated to .92 studio version. same problem.

the tried again .92 grd. same problem.

also cleaned manually all folders regarding nik 9, uninstalled and installed v 9.1.1.4. for each single process above mentioned

same problem

this morning after a reboot, I don’t know why color fez opened then tried analog / silver efex but again these two freezed at splash screen. but in color efex I was able to modify ai computations to CPU.

then everything started working.

thus for me it’s a big bug related to nik source code implementation.

thx

Try the the latest update to 9.1.2. In this update this issue should be fixed.
