Is this laptop adequate?

Greetings. I have a near dead computer and found this machine online. US$1500. I think it is adequate, but wish for feedback if anyone has a moment. Specs:

13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-13620H (24 MB cache, 10 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.9 GHz Turbo)
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060, 8 GB GDDR6
14’’ QHD+ (2560 x 1600)165Hz, 3ms, 300nitsDCIP3 100%typ + Hello/LBL/GSYNC/DDS/ ComfortView Plus
1TB SSD
32 GB: LPDDR5, 4800 MT/s (onboard)

Thanks!

It should be.

Here’s DxO’s system requirements page.

More memory and faster processors, especially the graphics card for DeepPrime, work faster/smoother.

Thank you. I was scraping by with a slow i7, 8GB, on-board iris graphics. This is a big jump in performance. I just finished the transaction.

I don’t use laptops for post processing because of the small screens, but the machine you are getting will work very well with PhotoLab. Enjoy it!

Looks like Dell Alienware x14 R2 Gaming Laptop.
It should be OK, even for DeepPRIME XD on 50mpx/Bayer.
It can drive 8k monitor.
Few details to check, which come to my mind:

  • how hot it can get? It’s big power in a small box.
  • will the gaming keyboard be readable if you switch off the gaming style lighting?

The second point is perhaps not that important, as you can use external keyboard at home.
I wouldn’t rely on the battery life data given by the manufacturer.

yes, it should be!

I’ve got a MacBook Pro with what feels like a microscopic screen (14") but at home it has a 27" ASUS high quality display plugged into it. For me, it transformed my Laptop into a Desktop.

I don’t know the laptops mentioned up above, but a larger external display might be a less expensive option, providing the people here who understand these devices approve them. Does the laptop you’re getting have a graphics processor?

Umm, read the specs @mikemyers!

I use an external display at home. I am normally teaveling so a laptop works best for me.

Yes, Mike, 6GB Nvidia, 4060
