I think the iPad pro has come far enough that a port of DXO Photolab is overdue! I have been using it for my editing needs as of late, and the portability/usability is unmatched. I would love to see one come out, at some point soon!
Based on DxO’s track record with support for Apple devices I think that’s never going to happen.
A man can dream I suppose… Didn’t want to have to say goodbye yet…
Dreaming is fine. Just remember though that you are just dreaming
Desktop application interfaces don’t translate all that well to iPad Pro (I have the 12.9"). The best iPad Pro RAW development application which I’ve used is Darkroom which works surprisingly similarly to PhotoLab but with far fewer settings.
Don’t forget that DxO have not even seen fit to include the processing of iOS DNG within PhotoLab, something which annoys me every day. I’ll have to use Apple Photos to work on some right now, and then maybe take jpegs to PhotoLab. Impossible workflow, due to pure malevolence at DxO.
How infuriating! Well thats fair, I too am using Darkroom, just miss some of the features within DXO photolab. Oh well, I must adapt. As long as its not ADOBE amirite? The lack of editing of iOS DNG is like unacceptable, that’s ridiculous.
RIP me I suppose. Lol Darkroom forums here I come? haha no healing/cloning is a bit obnoxious.
Affinity Photo has an affordable iOS version which probably includes healing/cloning. The interface is small for me on iPads or iPhones for me, so I prefer to do any detail work like healing/cloning on 32" monitors.
A bit more expensive, but Photomator offers a very decent iPad editing experience. AI masking, effective cloning tool, and all of the basics. Works pretty well. Lacking lens corrections but not a bad application.
Unfortunately nothing can match Lightroom on the iPad right now
Definitely seeing that, LR seems to be best… But I refuse.
One sort of workaround is to run PhotoLab on your computer and login remotely from your iPad. I do that on occasion. Not optimal but certainly workable.
Something I had considered for sure!
Photomator is VERY cool, great tip!
Can say Photomator is a bit of a cut above Darkroom so far, less buggy!
Glad it might work for you! Apple just bought Photomator, so there’s a high chance of product and pricing changes for better or for worse. Just FYI
Considering buying the lifetime license for sure.
If you have family sharing set up with Apple, you then get desktop, iPhone, and iPad apps for everyone in your household for the one purchase… that’s where it becomes good value. I bought it for my wife for her birthday and then promptly installed it on my iPad
Is it on Windows as well?
Doesn’t seem so
