I’ve just downloaded a trial of PL8 (on Windows 11), hoping to move way from ON1. Sadly at the moment it is virtually unusable, because the font is so tiny I can hardly read the text. I have searched this forum and the user guide, but the only answers I have found seem to be old, saying either you can’t change the font size, or you have to globally increase Windows scaling (which MS don’t recommend).
I have submitted a support request, but being new I have no idea how long they will take to respond, so I’m asking the question here too. Is there a way to increase font size?
You don’t have this problem with other application ?
Is PL8 font smaller than other software?
On my laptop with a 16" 2560x1600 screen I have a 125% scale without any worries.
I have just had a (v quick) response from SXO support:
"Greetings,
Unfortunately it is not possible to increase the font size, the only option would be to increase the resolution of your monitor, but that would cause everything on the monitor to increase in size as well, our apologies.
regards,"
So sadly that is my trial of PL8 over on day 1. What a shame.
PL8vsON1Text.docx (43.8 KB)
Here is a doc showing screenshots of PL8 and ON1 photoraw. ON1 isn’t hugely bigger, but it is enough to make the difference between having to squint at the screen and reading easily
Incidentally, in Windows Accessibility settings I tried changing text size to 150%. Windows, browsers etc all had larger text, but it didn’t affect PL8 (or ON1)
Windows has a standard Magnifier tool… not ideal - but ( can help if you want to temp see something that you want to read and then quickly zoom out back to normal ) … also search for similar 3rd party apps
Did you restart the app after changing the windows scaling? I am not sure if that is necessary, for some apps it seems to be. Or better restart your computer completely.
Ta for the suggestion, but yes initially restarted app and then restarted pc. I’ll try again with a more massive increase to be sure. But everything else definitely got bigger!
Took a quick look at luminar neo as an alternative but it doesn’t do star rating or colour coding.
Does trying this help in addition to the Accessibility font scaling option? I notice that Windows 11 has this feature as does Windows 10. Just be aware that the Compatibility tab in the Properties window might have a different layout.
Hello there…
Thanks for this. It needed a slightly different route but I got there! Unfortunately it doesn’t make any difference. So far I have just restarted app - will try restart of PC now just in case. Great suggestion.
Cheers
