Managing presets in NIK Color Efex is extremely cumbersome. For starters, all imported presets are always placed in the “Imported” category. If you then copy the presets to a separate category, the preset isn’t actually copied; instead, only a link is created. If you delete a preset from the “Imported” category, it’s also gone from all the categories it was copied to. This isn’t intuitive. On the contrary, it can be quite frustrating when you first discover this functionality.
If you want to “copy” presets from the “Imported” category to another category, you have to copy each preset individually. This is cumbersome and time-consuming.
If you select a category that currently contains no presets, the three-dot menu used to import presets is missing. This is not intuitive. On the contrary, it confuses the user.
The entire concept should be rethought. It is not user-friendly.
