I have a question: is it true that version 10 of DxO PhotoLab is coming out soon?

The latest versions were released in September:

  • PL8 - September 17, 2024
  • PL9 - September 2, 2025

We can therefore think that v10 will be released shortly

Could come this week. Maybe even today - www.dxo.com is showing the ā€œsomething exciting is comingā€ page!

Edit: …and now it’s been replaced by an old page highlighting the ā€œnewā€ Nik Collection 9 and PhotoLab 9.6.

PL 9.6 is advertised as new too. It was - quite a while ago.

The good news is, that, despite what’s printed on the page, the installer is for 9.11 build 54 for Mac. YMMV with Win.

Based on history, I think it’s reasonable to assume it’ll be released within a few weeks. They seem pretty hush-hush about stuff & tend not to leak anything as far as I’m aware. I’m currently on the PL9 trial period. I’m curious if I’ll be eligible for another 30-day trial of PL10 once it’s released. Anyone happen to have any insight on this?

Yes, you will be. Each new major release has been a separate product from the previous version. Licenses don’t carry over.

Awesome! Thanks. I wonder if I’ll be able to make it through on trial periods until the first major discount/sale of PL10.

You only get one trial, which runs for 30 days.

In the past a new (major) version of PL has been launched at a discount from the full price. A bigger discount is available to ā€˜current users’, i.e. to users of the previous two versions (this year = users of PL8 and 9). The launch offer has run for at least a month.

The next sale has been over the Black Friday period. The discount has always been as good, often better than the launch discount. Again ā€˜current users’ get a better deal.

There is no guarantee that DxO will repeat these offers this year.
