Since installing PL9, I can no longer export images. I always get a red exclamation mark in the bottom right corner of the image. I have a feeling that my RAM is no longer sufficient. The error message: “An unknown error has occurred in the correction engine (Correction failed on the execution stage)”. I have already updated all my drivers, especially the graphics card driver on my win 11 system. I don’t know what else to do. Could it be that PL9 no longer works with 16GB of memory?
To the best of my knowledge, older NVIDIA drivers are generally considered better. If you search around here, you can find the recommended one. If I remember right 572.83(?) Anyway, if you dont use the predefined selections, it normally works fine. And I’m using an old RTX 2060 with 6GB memory.
I upgraded from 24 to 64 gb on my system and I’m still getting same export errors.
I also have a different machine licensed and on this it works fine! But on my laptop Dell XPS 13 Plus with an INTEL graphic card…no go! Before, with PL8 I did not have any problem with the export. Can anyone help? Dont know what to do…
Thanks! I can live without predefined selection options! It worked for me now.
In other threads (posts) we discuss a lot about GPU and GPU memory (VRAM), nVidia drivers, issues and so on. May worth to check thru.
I the nutshell (I’m on the move, so just lijmited comment).
GPU memory amount important. If you use AI mask on photo and export with DP, you need at least 6GB of GPU memory. If you use nvidia GPU then driver version is also important.
May comment your machine specs below.
First step is to isolate the problem to either lack of system RAM or lack of video RAM. Go into Preferences → Performance and for AI Acceleration select “CPU Only”, then select OK and restart PL. If you are now able to export (it’ll be very slow) then it was your GPU limiting things. You’ll likely need a new GPU (you didn’t specify what you have but the GPU RAM requirements have increased with this release. 6GB is min, 8GB is recommended, and realistically if you are buying a new GPU at this point in time 12-16GB would be the wisest investment to have a small amount of future proofing.
If the CPU Only option doesn’t allow exporting still then it could be system RAM. Windows on 16GB is ok for browsing the web, but not great for using resource hungry apps such as PL.
Thanks so much! My card is a Intel Iris Xe Graphics with 8 GB. I did the settings change how you said and it works! Problem identified but certainly it is no long-term-solution. Obviously there is no other way as to buy a new workstation with a suitable graphics card. Thanks for your help! Much appreciated!
Yeah, the Iris Xe is not in the same class as a dedicated GPU unfortunately. The biggest issue is that 8GB is not a separate 8GB but rather shared with your system memory. The Xe is able to share 1/2 of the system RAM. Since your system has 16GB main RAM your Iris can use 8GB. But you still only have 16GB total, not 16+8.
In general the system you are describing is just not the right class for this type of application. With the CPU-Only config you can get buy in a pinch for a photo here and there but it’s going to be a frustrating environment long-term.
I added an Intel ARC B580 12 gb thinking that it would improve performance. While Masking etc worked great, I could no longer print or export if I used AI or advanced noise reduction. After a couple exchanges with DXO support ( less than 24 hour turnaround for replies) I ran the diagnostic program they sent and it was determined that the Intel Arc GPU was incompatible. Fortunately B&H customer service the best and I am returning it for and NVIdia of some sort.
Has Dxo told you that Intel Arc 580 is incompatible with Photolab? That’s incredible, it’s a recently released GPU with 12 Gb Vram, how can that even be possible?
Yes, their reply is at the bottom. for reference, I am using a Dell 3640 tower with an Intel 10th generation 7 (10700) CPU with 32gb ram. using the motherboard video I could run the masking but export or printing would take 4-5 minutes for a single image. I added the Intel ARC b580 with 12gb ram and I could not export or print an image with ai masking or heavy noise reduction. after their response, see below, I was able to return the GPU to B&H under their 30 day return policy and asked for help. they recommended an NVIDIA RTX 5050 with 8gb for the same price. I offered to spend more. I installed that card and the same image that took over 4 minutes before, now takes less than 30 seconds. Here is the DXO support response after running their diagnostic app. : Hello Dale,
Thank you for your patience and for sharing the details about the issue you encountered when exporting images in DxO PhotoLab 9.
After reviewing your report and diagnostic information, I can confirm that there is currently no software fix available for this specific export problem. Our team has identified that it is related to hardware compatibility rather than a program defect.
For now, you have two possible workarounds:
Use CPU-only mode – You can continue working in DxO PhotoLab 9 by switching to CPU-only mode for exports. Please note that this may result in slower performance, but it will allow you to complete exports reliably.
Consider a hardware upgrade – Installing a compatible GPU or using a newer PC that meets the recommended system requirements (for example, NVIDIA RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 with 8 GB VRAM for Windows 11 64-bit) will ensure full compatibility with AI and DeepPRIME processing features.
I understand this may be disappointing, especially since you mentioned that PhotoLab 8 worked well for you. Our engineering team continues to improve hardware compatibility in future updates.
Please let me know if you decide to try CPU-only mode or use a different setup, and confirm whether the issue persists afterward.
