How to have same preferences, settings , database for multiple users

Dear all,
having switched to the Apple universe some time ago, I now started to improve my security concept a little and one aspect is having a “normal user” without admin privileges for day to day work. Because until now I was doing everything under my single personal account with admin rights - including working with PL I don’T want to make anything stupid and have the following questions:

  1. Is there any way to duplicate the preferences and settings made for PL from one user to another ?
  2. What to keep an eye on in relation to the database in this context ?

Currently using Macbook Pro under latest Sequoia version and latest PL and the app was installed for “all users”. That said, when loggin in as the new standard user PL looks kind of “virgin”, like after a fresh installation.

The only thing I could find about user accounts in relation to PL was in the Windows section, but not here. So, many thanks in advance for your input.

There are a few possibilities that might make things more or less complicated…

V1:

  • Make the new user account admin
  • Remove admin rights from the “old” user

V2

  • Log in to new user
  • Copy folders and files from the old (admin) user
    Licenses etc.: Users > OldUser > Library > Application Support > DxO*
    Preferences: Users > OldUser > Library > Preferences > com.dxo.Photo*.plist
    Database, Modules etc.: Users > OldUser > Library > DxO*

If you’d ask me

  • I’d advise against using both accounts, but you might use the old account to test new releases before using them on your real images
  • I’d advise to put your photo archive on a separate volume. I had mine in the Shared User folder for a long time, but moved them to a separate volume of the internal drive a while ago.
