While PL does not load DNG files from my smartphone, I use HEIF (heic) instead. It works, but loading is extremely slow. It speed up a little with V9.9 but still very slow. This is on Win11.
Is it only me or do others see this?
I think they only support Apple devices. I just tried my Samsung 26 ultra (which uses 10 bit in place of jpeg 8bit) and it caused PL 9.9.1 to lock up and had to use Task Manager to close the program. It did used to load very very slowly images and allow editing but again very slowly and was unusable. It was totally unusable and highlights the issue of refusing to support phones apart from Apple. Over the years there have been many customer attempts to get them to provide the same support as jpeg and they never succeeded just resulted in customers moving away to programs that allow all there images to be processed in one program.
My experience is with Samsung S23. So far, only sloooww loading is my problem.
With a 22 ultra support basically told me go away not supported when I tried that and it was unusbly slow
That was loading and doing anything.
With 9.10 it will not load or show from 26ultra just says unsupported camera. It would load very slowly befor so they are now blocking totally. Fastview is OK but Affinity 3 as bad it no longer supports the format
HEIC files from the S25 Ultra load quickly and process just like any other file. This is with the latest PL9 on windows.
Reinstalling even with a 500mb line into 10minits plus re-downloading everything.After all that just locks up again. I don’t knowe what difference there is but my now clean install

It could be the format has changed between 25 and 2.6 but they opend and still do in other viewers and programs. They did very slowly open in an older version of 9 so I think 9.10 has made a change
Same here (PL9.1, Win11). PL hangs on opening this image. With my S23 images no change in PL9.1. They load but extremely slow.

I did not download the Windows codecs in question,
whereas Affinity Photo 2.6.5 simply opened the (unpacked) file.

I have installed the codex and early 9s used to open and very slowly process the imige. So slow as to be unusable. So they have changed something to block such files in the latter versions. No matter that there are many who want wider support in all phones and cameras
I have a Samsung S24 … and given up on DxO’s HEIC support.
They do appear to do there best to drive customers away
I can open HEIC files from my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in PhotoLab 9.10 without any problems.
They open instantly, and I don’t recall having to load a codec.
Its totally erratic one time I had a black image and message camera not supported. Others as some others very slow loading and processing which I found unusable, Then yet others and constantly now just lockup, as been confirmed here with my test image. Other programs have found no change with the format in 26u just PL. Affinity 2 which hasn’t had any updates since last year opens it no problem just PL. Its there mania to keep just supporting Apple phones even if other’s are using the same image format and being used by more customers.
