Global Adjustments

Have installed Nik Collection 7 and am a Nik user for many years.
With present installation, no Global Adjustments are available for Color Efex not Analog Efex. They are present however with Silver Efex, Viveza, and HDR Efex.
Same situation whether Free Standing Version or as Photoshop PlugIn.
Correspond with DXO support with the issue, but still to be resolved.
Anyone had this problem and/or any suggestions.

Cheers. Graham

Hi,

Quoting the manual :

Each time you add a filter or a preset, the associated tools will be displayed in the right panel, under the Loupe and the Histogram sections.

So, you’ll only see in the right panel the tools needed to adjust the filters or presets that you have activated. To see the “global” settings that you want, just go to the Filters section in the left panel and select what you need.

I admit, it’s a little bit surprising.

To be more accurate…

In Color Efex and Analog Efex, no filter / tool is displayed by default in the right panel. The filters are available in “Filters” for Color Efex and in “Camera Kit” for Analog Efex.

When you apply a preset (from Presets in Color Efex or from Cameras in Analog Efex), the filters/tools that have been used to build the preset are displayed in the right panel and only these.

If you are starting a preset from scratch, you have to first apply the filters / tools from Color Efex or from Camera Kit that you want to use. You can also combine with an existing preset. At the end, both the filters / tools that you added and those who were part of the applied Preset will be visible in the right panel.

Note that all the tools available in Viveza in the right pane are also available in Color Efex as filters. Therefore, one may wonder why Viveza is still there, particularly because negative U-Points are available in Color Efex but not in Viveza.

So, there was no really good reason to keep Viveza while I still don’t understand why Perspective has been removed. Consistency has always been a problem at DxO.

Hope this helps.

Hi and welcome,
checked in old Nik 3.3 with CEP 5 and AFX 3 – and it is was the very same!

Like already explained, in CEP you choose a filter (single or preset) to then get Global and Local adjustments, while in AFX your filters (presets) are your Gobal adjustments, some with and some without Local adjustments.

Feel free to ask further questions (using Nik since Nik Software).

Thank you both Wolfgang and Patrick. It was my thoughts that the Global Adjustments lived on the RHS all of the time, rather than operate as you both mentioned.
So I think operator error on my behalf as I probably don’t use my Nik filters as often these days as I used to, I’m out of touch.
Thank you both for your assistance.
Cheers
Graham
