Final Version DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans

Is there already a date when the final version of DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans for Fujifilm, also for 40 MP sensors, will be available? Otherwise the update to PR5 makes no sense to me.

No, there is not I’m afraid.

Assuming it’s even close to ready for release, PueRaw support will likely not be added at least until PhotoLab 9 is released in September.

It would be a shame if this would be released only to PL9 and force people to upgrade for a feature that should have been in PL8 in the first place.

Except that’s exactly what anyone who’s watched how DxO market their products should expect to happen.

If they do the same as PureRAW 4 (one year of saying that XD2 support for X-Trans is “coming soon”. NEVER happened and never will…), you will wait quite a long time, IMHO… :man_facepalming:

That date was two days ago! Looks like it’s working well. Files look clean, but I always keep luminosity to zero.

I did a few tests and the result is jaw-droppingly good in many photos, as long as I keep Luminosity below 25 or so. Above that I sometimes get smearing in wood grain and other fine patterns in low light, high-ISO photos.

However, I still prefer DeepPRIME 3 (non-XD) in my default preset. I think non-XD DeepPRIME 3 is the state-of-the-art when it comes to denoising that retains the “organic” feel and doesn’t make anything non-plastic look plastic. Yes, it retains some grain, but the grain looks good and natural, as if the photo was shot with 4 stops lower ISO and then had traditional denoising applied. It’s the best general purpose denoising algorithm on the market and it’s much faster than the XD denoisers. I will only use XD3/XD2s for specific photos for specific purposes.

The PR5 release makes not much sense as they removed the more simple process… I use that quite a lot.
