FilmPack 8 released

These can be seen easily on gray card photos. Using uniform blue surface is even better for that. I’m interested only in the “luma grain”, so checked “B&W Grain”. Only few don’t obviously show repeating pattern. My, still unverified, choice would be one of

  • Ilford XP2, HPS 800, HPS 400 Plus
  • Kodak Tri-X 400, T-Max 400, T-Max 3200 (but NOT T-Max P3200)
  • Berger BRF 400 Plus.

Maybe few other would qualify, but most of them are usable only for “busy” photos.

FP 8.0 release notes state that “The grain pattern applied to images is now unique for each rendering, avoiding repetitive texture patterns and delivering a more natural film look”, but clearly it wasn’t delivered.
