A new mask can be created more quickly and with less effort if a fill tool is available to use once the perimeter of mask is drawn on an image.

Just so you know, this feature (like other which will simplify the local adjustments experience) is already in our backlog, with drawing straight lines between two points automatically, inverting the mask, etc.
