Exif differences - iPhone - Possible Bug

Quick one for iPhone users on both Windows and Mac, although I am seeing this on Mac it is possibly evident with both OS’s.

I don’t often use my iPhone photography for more than impromptu moments when out and don’t have ‘proper’ camera with me.

Anyway was at work last week and happened to notice some nice light out to sea so grabbed a quick shot in Apples ProRaw to have a see how PL9 handled the files now they are supported.

Aside for the fact I feel they deal with them fairly well I noticed what may be a small and I’m sure insignificant bug to most regarding how PL9 is reading/handling the exif data for the files.

I have submitted a bug report but wondering if anyone else can confirm they are seeing the same and indeed whether opinion is this is a bug or expected behaviour.

So a picture speaks a thousand words and all that…

You will notice that on the hover-over the exif data for ‘Camera’ states ‘Unknown Apple boby’ and for the ‘Lens’ we have the correct iPhone 14 Pro…’

With the Exif data on the right hand panel we can see that the ‘Body’ states ‘iPhone 14 Pro’ rather than ‘Unknown Apple Body’ from the hover-over panel.

So whats the forum opinions then.

All fine or not?

In regard to Exif data are ‘Camera’ and ‘Body’ separate descriptors and that maybe the issue.

Like I say. Hardly the most important thing but something I noticed.

I noticed this too. My take is that DxO have enough on their plate given the current state of PL9, and when it comes to metadata I rely fully on the DAM I use.

I suppose its ‘good’ to see its not just me then and that its affecting newer iPhones too.

Yes, I agree it’s not the most important ‘issue’ DxO are likely to be dealing with right now but still it adds to the overall ‘polish’ of the application.

Not seeing this on Windows for either iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 17Pro. Both OK.

Interesting. Possibly a Mac only issue then.

Received a response from support earlier. Clearly they had either completely misunderstood what I was saying or didn’t actually read it as the response was of no worth/value to the ‘issue’ at hand. Have yet to respond back. Unsure if I can be bothered based on the response received thus far tbh especially considering time of the year.
