DxO Software - New Cameras & Lenses support (10 December 2024 update)

Is there an approximate release date for a module that supports the Sigma 500mm f5.6 Sport (Sony version)?

@Marie:

I have two questions:

  1. when will there be support for the Nikkor Z 50mm F1.4 lens, which has been on sale since the end of September?

In case anyone is interested: I have owned the lens for three weeks and use it on a Nikon Z f. Of course it does not reach the level of a Sigma 50mm F1.4 Art lens, but for the price it is absolutely recommendable.

  1. is it to be expected that lenses from the Chinese manufacturer Meike will also be supported in the future (e.g. Meike 85mm 1.4 STM for Nikon Z)?

Meike now also produces very high-quality lenses and the price-performance ratio is unbeatable.

It often takes 1 to 3 months after they become available before lenses have a profile added. It can also take much longer depending upon whether the lens has been added to their roadmap and/or a sample to test is readily available.

Since this is an important new Nikkor lens, I’m sure it’ll be added sooner than other more exotic or more uncommon lenses especially when only a few loaner copies for those lenses are available.

@Marie:

Hello, are there plans to provide a lens module for the Voigtlander Nokton 50mm F1.0 Aspherical for the Nikon Z mount? It seems the module for the Canon RF mount is available but not Z. Thanks very much.

I am surprised it is not already supported. This lens has been available for 16 months. Most of the other Z mount Voigtlanders have had profiles available for quite some time, including the three I use. Have you requested support for this lens? You can do that here.

Mark

Hi Mark, I did request it already, several months ago. I am suspecting the Z mount got a back seat because it has less copies in circulation and the unfortunate fact that the user base size probably did not favour Nikon.

You could say the same thing for my Z 40mm f/1.2 Nokton, my Z D23mm f/1.2 Nokton and my Z D35mm F/1.2 Nokton but they were all supported in a much more reasonable timeframe.

The D35mm and D23mm are crop sensor lenses intended primarily for use on the three Z crop sensor bodies which is a fairly limited number of users. I use them on my retro Z fc crop body. My 40mm is a also a favorite for shooters of the full frame Nikon Zf and I would assume the 50mm f/1.2 Nokton would also be a popular, although expensive, choice for that body.

I will put a request for it in myself. Perhaps a new request from a different person will stimulate them to add it to their roadmap.

EDIT: I just submitted a request for the 50mm f/1.2 Nokton, for the Nikon Z mount, on DxO’'s Supported Cameras & Lenses database.

Mark

Thank you for lending your support Mark. Much appreciated. Though I wonder if Voigtlander actually made a Nokton 50mm f/1.2 for Z mount. I know they made it for M and E mount, but not Canon or Nikon as far as I know.

I always like Voigtlander glass so hopefully DXO will hear our plea.

It was a mistype. because all my Noktons are f/1.2. I actually requested the 50mm f/1.0 Nokton. Sorry for the confusion.

Mark

Hello DxO Team
I have submitted a request for
GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR on DxO’'s Supported Cameras & Lenses database.
Thank you all for your hard work.

Thank you very much for your answer.

With regard to the Nikkor Z 50mm F1.4 lens, I can only hope that it will be supported this year.

I didn’t know that DxO gets free lenses on loan from the manufacturers in order to be able to carry out the necessary measurements to create the profiles. Until now, I naively assumed that DxO would acquire the lenses regularly.
Perhaps this explains the fact that so far not a single lens from Meike or Sirui is supported, which I find very unfortunate, as both manufacturers have started to sell high-quality and fast AF lenses for various mirrorless systems.

I will be buying an 85mm F1.4 for my Nikon Z f from one of the two manufacturers in the foreseeable future. I’m just not sure which one yet. I will probably wait a little longer until there are meaningful test reports on the new Siuri 85mm.

However, I’m even more excited about the 35mm F1.4 AF lenses from Meike and Siuri, which are already mentioned in the roadmaps but have not yet been officially announced. And as excited as I am about my new Nikkor Z 50mm F1.4, I won’t hesitate to buy a 50mm F1.4 from Meike or Sirui if it becomes available at some point and has better optical performance or a more pleasing bokeh than the Nikkor.

@Marie: As soon as I have one of the Chinese lenses, I’ll be happy to lend it to DxO for profiling, if that’s possible.

Purchasing lenses just to develop profiles would be a huge and unnecessary expense. I do not know where they acquire their lenses from. Perhaps it from the manufacturer, a dealer, or other source. They certainly don’t purchase them to create profiles. They probably use the same sources for their loaners as reviewers do. There are a limited number of loaners for every lens that is released. Sometimes they may have to wait for one to become available.

Hi, are you seriously saying the Sigma 50mm f/1.2 is supported for L-mount only but not for the (far more popular) E-mount?
The announcement e-mail I had received about the lens module updates did not mention this restriction of mounts, so I was super disappointed to have found the Sony version is still not working in the most recent version of PhotoLab 8, despite desperately having been waiting for that optic module since I had purchased the lens back in April.
When will the Sony version of the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art be available???
Thanks!!!

This is primarily an end user site. DxO rarely posts here. Have you requested this lens at Appareils supportés - DxO?

Mark

Hi, thanks für the answer and information but yes, of course, I did request it at DxO quite some time ago.

I will request the lens myself even though I have no need for it. I will let you know when I have done it.

Edit: I have requested support for this lens. It may not help get it supported any sooner, but it won’t hurt.

Mark

Hi wolphgang,

I too have just requested support for this lens from DxO, although I don’t own it myself. Presumably lenses are supported faster if many people request support for them.

P.S.: I myself am waiting for support for the following camera/lens combination:

Nikon Zf + Nikkor Z 50mm F1.4

Perhaps there will be a few more users who request support for this from DxO.

thanks a lot!

thanks a lot, did that, too

Only days ago, shelled out the 109 euros for the PL 8 upgrade, as I’ve faithfully done each new version / upgrade since OpticsPro 10. Routinely using the regular path, renewed my lens module suggestion for the

  • HD Pentax-DA 10-17mm F3.5-4.5 Fish-Eye ED

an affordable yet quite unique fisheye zoom released in 2019 that many Pentaxians own and would like to see supported. Just checked, and my first post here mentioning that lens dates back to April 2022.

Couple of months ago, @Marie answered she had raised the priority but couldn’t provide a date for inclusion on the calibration list. Which I deeply appreciate, along with the strong Pentax support that DxO has offered for so many years, despite what must be small sales volume.

Still, a bit saddening, to be honest.
