DxO Pureraw 5 is completely broken and support will not help

,

I have currently been waiting 1+ month for support with an unwarranted ticket closure and no responses in over a week.

Since I purchased Pureraw 5, it has barely worked. I thought waiting for updates could fix my issues, but after many updates, it has just got worse. My computer has an MSI RTX 2070 8Gb, Ryzen 5700xt, 32Gb DDR4 @3200, and should easily be able to run the program, and that shows when it works.

My issue seems to happen randomly. I will process an image with or without the preview (it doesn’t seem to affect anything), click “Process Now” to start, but the image will never finish. The timer will keep climbing up and never finish. Sometimes the program will just error out and say the image can’t be processed in the first place, even though it is using a supported camera and lens.

I know the image will never finish because when the program works, it takes ~5s. I have left it running, and the timer will climb for as long as I can tell, without completing.

What I have tried:

  • Multiple driver versions, including both studio and game ready, with clean installs
  • I have done a clean installation of Windows 11
  • Deleted and re-installed Pureraw 5
  • Files from both my D850 and D500 with supported lenses (It happens with both of the files)
  • Fully closing the program and opening again sometimes works, but not always
  • Restarting my computer sometimes works but not always
  • Deleting the program’s files, but not the program, sometimes works, but not always
  • Probably more, but I just can’t remember it all
  • Tried using my CPU for image processing, but it doesn’t always work and is much slower.

Even if these work temporarily, none of these are usable workarounds, and they take too long to do for every single image.

I was trying to find some other things I could do to possibly fix it or find others who are having the same issue.

Hi there and welcome.

Feel free to attach a photo which do not work propery for you, for others to examine and test on their system.
That would be a good start.

I could, but my issue appears to be random. A photo may be having issues processing, and if I try again, it will work fine. It is basically impossible to replicate. With enough trial and error, I can get a photo processed.

Do you have a second computer to try this on? Maybe a laptop at work or a friend’s machine? That would at least give an indication on whether it’s related to your specific setup.

I just had an image fail to process, so I tried it on my laptop. The photo processed perfectly fine.

Right, so it’s likely a hardware issue somewhere within your setup. Since the processing happens mainly on the GPU, maybe you can try out a different model. Order one from a place that has a good return policy, so you could return it if it does not solve the issue.

What seems to work for me is to first put the DxO PureRAW 5 process in efficiency mode in the task manager, then right after you click process in PureRAW another process will show up in the background processes part of the task manager, called PureRaw saver (or similar to that, I can’t remember exactly). You need to put that process in efficiency mode too. Also, this second process sometimes shows up as wsappx, no idea why, if you look for the green PR icon you might find it easier.
Since I’ve been doing this, I have no problem processing thousands of images without any issues, and using efficiency mode doesn’t seem to slow down the process much.
Hope this helps.
