In PL8, the option for DeepPrime XD and XD2s is merged into one choice. Is there any way to specifically choose XD2s all the time or is that choice automatically determined by PL8 itself?
Thx

PhotoLab automatically determined itself.
XD2s for all camera except Xtrans; in this case, XD is called.

Thanks for getting back so quickly!
Just to clarify, does that mean that for my Panasonic FZ1000 for example, that I can only choose between DeepPrime and DeepPrime XD2s? (i.e. DeepPrime XD from PL7 is no longer available for the Panasonic FZ1000).
Yes.

The only reason that XD is still on the tool label is because, as @Pieloe indicated, Fuji Xtrans sensors are not supported yet and it reverts to XD specifically for those sensors. When, or if, Xtrans sensors are eventually supported, I assume that XD will be removed from the label.

When DeepPRIME XD was introduced, PRIME and DeepPrime were each individual choices. Is DeepPRIME XD no longer a choice but only DeepPRIME XDs2 unless DxO does not support DeepPRIME XDs2 for a body?
When I upgraded from PL7Elite Complete to PL8Elite Complete, all my PL7 presets appeared, including those that excplicitly used DeepPRIME XD. Are those XD presets now automatically XDs2 if the body is supported for XDs2 by DxO?
That is unfortunately correct, unfortunately because DxO could have left both available but chose not to.
I personally consider that to be a very bad and potentially unnecessary decision particularly when coupled with the incorrectly applied 1GB rule for GPUs which is causing 2GB cards to be faulted.
Old presets and DOPs will automatically have XD2s substituted for any occurrence of XD.
On the GPU question, during the installation/upgrade from PL7 to PL8, the OpenCL graphics was specified as being present. However, when I attempt to activate OpenCL when PL8 is running, the box for Edit → Preferences → Performance DeepPRIME acceleration, OpenCL is not checked and the option to check it is non-operational. Is this correct?
Will the GPU issue be addressed?
What GPU issue are you referring to specifically?
My version of PL8.1 currently has the following setting for OpenCL
Turning off gives
and turning it back on gives
after another DxPL(Win) restart.
So I don’t appear to have a problem with my RTX 2060, what is your configuration?
During the installation/upgrade, the installation GUI showed that the PL8 installer had detected OpenCL. Nonetheless, on my instance of PL8, that choice is greyed-out. The configuration is a bit more complicated than yours, under separate cover, as I must leave right now. Thanks.
@wildlifephoto I am sorry but my installation of PL8 does not suffer the same problem at all, I can set and reset OpenCL as I demonstrated in the post above, with the required DxPL restart after making the setting for the new setting.
Why your OpenCL option is greyed out I do not know, please remember that I am a user just as you are and have no knowledge of DxO’s plans for anything!
I suggest that you download and install GPU-Z and run it and select your GPU if you have an integrated GPU also installed i.e.
DxO support is then the next port of call.
PS what does your DxPL performance drop down show
Have you checked that you have installed the current drivers because that will be DxO support’s first question, which will be also be answered by GPU-Z.
