PhotoLab is just a toolbox and there is no obligation to use all tools on all images.
A hammer is enough for a nail, some even use a hammer for screws, but you might want to use the screwdriver instead. My advice: check out what the tools can do, and whether they turn your photos in something you like or dislike.
To start with, it helps to note a few properties that your target image should have,
e.g. “I want a dark image with an illuminated face near the upper righthand corner.”
and try to get there.
