DXO linux support

None of the pros and cons show any in depth marketing survey that indicates this would be a lucrative move for DxO with a large market of potential users who would be happy to embrace DxO and back that up with purchases.

BTW, Mark, to give you an idea of how someone can be flexible in their ideas when a situation changes, I completely agreed with your position about Linux in 2018.

I share your thoughts on current Apple (best OS X was 10.6.8, 10.8 was okay, 10.11 can be made usable after that good blood luck). On the other hand, I’m still on Apple. Linux will have to wait until more software buyers move over. For now, Linux users remain mostly programmers and freebie types (will never pay for software).

Things change and new opportunities become available. Outside of market share, Linux infrastructure has improved for multimedia applications, the frameworks which PhotoLab uses have become more powerful and portable, and AI tools make porting and maintaining ports slightly easier (quality work in the half time, all the talk of AI speeding up coding by 5x or 10x ignores that most time in serious software development is spent on testing and quality control, which AI cannot eliminate).

We can continue to go back and forth on this forever. I, for one, am getting tired of this discussion and will probably stop participating in it. You and other Linux supporters are certainly free to continue pressuring and cajoling DxO to do something. However, I can read, have good analytical skills, and have been watching how DxO conducts its business for many years. In the long term, who can say with any certainty what DxO will do,. However, it is clear to me that the odds of this happening in the short or middle term are highly unlikely, verging towards zero.

I have no personal feelings for or against Linux, despite your continued suggestions that I do. For me, an operating system is just a means to an end. I continue to use Windows because after over 30 years I am very comfortable using it, it runs all my preferred software, and I get the results I want. It is as simple as that. I have no political agenda and I am not going to apologize for using Windows just because you think I should.
