Yesterday I upgraded my DxO software. I struggled with the simple process of making paymentm and discovered that DxO stores our payment address. Should your billing address change, it is necessary to edit that address in your Dxo account profile. People move. Additionally, some have multiple payment addresses linked to our credit cards. This practice makes client information unacceptably vulnerable.
What do you mean by payment address ?
Payment address, at least in the US, is linked to credit card for payment approval. To the card companies, it is as integral to approving a transaction as your card number, expiration date, and security code. As such, it is facilitates a hacker gaining access to your personal information.
Many of my accounts store addresses and other contact info as well as (optionally) credit card info. It should all be secure and encrypted, but we know that isn’t always the case. Many data breaches are taking place worldwide - some of which might involve insiders. My personal info has already been compromised several times and used by bad actors, but fortunately I’ve been protected against loss.
If you’re really concerned, you could just store a bogus address and then correct it when you want to purchase something. As a public person (clergy), I don’t worry about it - anyone who knows my name can find my address and work contact info very easily. But I understand not everyone wants to be vulnerable.
