Dxo 9 lockup and freeze

The first time I used DxO PhotoLab 9, I purchased it a few hours into the trial period and researched the company. I found out they owned my favorite B&W image app, Nik Collection 8. I originally used LR6 before they went into the subscription game, and moved to ON1 . It has been over 30 days trying to get this App to work without crashing, probably sending over 100 reports to DxO. I am posting this, hoping someone here can tell me how to solve my problem. My PC was built for so-called gamers and has all the bells and wistles required for those folks; however, my thing is travel photography and publishing books. Coffee take type book Window 11 Pro, Video NVIDIA 595.79, Software Nik Collection 8, Dxo Photolab 9.7. Finally, the crash is very inconsistent. I have not been able to zoom in on a pattern before the app closes. Thank everyone. I really want to keep this App. PS, this PC is very new

What does this mean, exactly?
Are you using Window’s dialog box interface to “send a report” when the issue occurs?
Or are you actually sending DxO a message through their support site?

Have you tried a fresh installation or repair?

Does your graphics card meet the DxO recommendations?

@Wolfgang according to @Smith’s post here:

yes it does.

Yes, I have done all of the above: reinstalled DxO Photolab 9.7 several times; my PC meets and exceeds the requirements; and all drivers are up to date.

Fresh Install, yes… Repair?

The “Repair” option is usually available when you install the same version over the “old” version.

It can happen (though rarely) that a download is corrupted. In this case, downloading a new version from your account and “repairing” the installation can help.

Btw, I’m still using Lightroom 5.7 and have been using the Nik Collection since it was Nik Software.

Thank you. heading back to look for the repair link

I suggest to try the followings, what’s happen if:

  • no mask at all
  • IF AI masks applied → try with only “manual” (selection, area) and NOT Pre-defined (like: Sky)

Try with under Preferences → Performance

  • AI acceleration changed to “use CPU only” → its the “safest” to isolate the issue is GPU related or not.
  • Windows ML acceleration is “Compatibility mode” (or the opposite) → for some GPU/Driver or whatever combination/cases may its helps.
  • OpenCL is enabled → its a must.

Under Preferences → Display

  • Disable “DeepPRIME rendering”

And of course, close all other application - even the small ones. May also a good idea to check overclocking (especially in the GPU side).

And, may a better description of the issue may can help to understand.

As far as I’m aware “inconsistent crash” seems rare if any this times in PL9.7. Seems if happen → may related with GPU Driver version and the “Windows ML acceleration” mode (seems especially in nVidia).

This is certainly abnormal and points to some problem with your PC or corrupted RAWs.
Any clues in PhotoLab log files and Windows EventLogs?
You don’t seem to be willing to share more info about your PC and RAWs…
Elevate to DxO and remain patient with first line support.

I made the suggested changes, but the app still closes. Driver is up to date.

Thank you kindly. I will apply the steps immediately.
