Suddenly I have started getting the attached error re my Samsung external drive. I read the script provided by DxO but do not really understand it as I have only 1 external Samsung drive, the second being Toshiba. There should not be any confusion therefore surely? No other app using that drive suffers this issue so why is PL8 affected?
Hi.
If you choose Go to folder and type /Volumes and hit return.
Do you see one Samsung drive there or two?
Just wonder if it’s a those volume which the system was unable to unmount at some point.
Just the one Samsung drive shows. The error does not come up every time.
I see.
How many partitions are the drive formatted in and in which file system?
APFS?
I just had a friend come round, who couldn’t write anything from his new Mac to an older external drive. The problem? It was formatted for NTFS from when it was used on an old Windows machine.
So, I had to move his files, folder by folder, to another drive, format the drive to APFS and move everything back again.
But, then I had to restart the Mac because the QuickLook mechanism seemed to retain a memory of the old disk. Eventually all is well.
EXFAT one partition. The error has not recurred since I first posted.
