Evidence to support the claim in the subject line of this topic:
I took this photo of a dinosaur only a couple of months ago while on a day out, i.e. I saw it in the wild
It was processed using my dinosaur Win 10 machine, please note its dinosaur specs 3rd Gen Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 4 GB VRAM GTX 1050 Ti.
The dinosaur PC performed as you might expect of a dinosaur, slow and steady, e.g. the export times were 2 mins 34 secs using XD/XD2s or 53 secs using DP3.
So far, so what?
Perhaps you might be more impressed when I tell you the dinosaur PC was running PL 9.2 (trial) and I used a ‘point and click’ AI mask on the dinosaur and I had no errors or crashes
I wouldn’t say that. Subsequent to processing the dinosaur image, my dinosaur PC choked on a different image when ever I tried to use any of the preset AI options.
The most spectacular fail was it said it couldn’t find any flowers when the picture in question was of a striking yellow rose bloom against the rich dark green of the rose bush leaves PL9.2 then gave the ‘internal error’ as soon as I tried to do something else, which required a close and reopen to restore PL to a working state.
@stuck and is there a clue in your dinosaur’s (the computer, not the model) configuration!?
You are using a GTX card not an RTX card and @Allan was being successful with both his computers and their GTX cards with pre PL9.1 and then that dropped to only one card being successful with PL9.1 and he recently reported a complete failure with PL9.2 and has reverted to PL9.1.
You didn’t state the driver version which may also be pertinent or not.
I can’t get any of the AI presets to work, they tell me that can’t find [insert whatever] and then I get an internal error, at which point I close and reopen PL.
Also, I’ve yet to try using more than one AI mask and/or combing AI masks. I suspect that will be too much for this old dinosaur.
@stuck Thanks for the update, I tried cranking up my long retired i7-4790K with a 2060(6GB) but it is suffering from terminal retirement, i.e. power light is on but there in no-one in (no boot, no nothing)!
