This still has not changed; I am going through it now. I cloned my operating system hard drive to have a backup and put the new one in operation since it is faster. Nothing else changed in the computer, just a different hard drive with an exact clone of the older one.
I am stuck waiting for DXO to allow me to use the software I paid for. I fully understand the need to protect the product from unauthorized use, but there should be a means to de-activate and re-activate by the users.
Adding to this, not just for PhotoLab but all DxO products (currently waiting for my PureRAW and have a project on hold until they do). There should be a list in your account page where you can manage activations, the same as Adobe and most other vendors do these days. It’s a waste of DxO’s own resources to keep this tied to support, and can easily cost their customers money - sometimes more than the value of the software itself. If they are concerned about abuse, limit it to 2 deactivations every 6 months (after which you have to contact support) similar to how Microsoft handles things.
This is way overdue at this point, DxO is standing out among it’s competition in a bad way because of this, and it’s the reason most other companies switched in recent years away from treating paid customers as the bad guy.
I couldn’t agree more. I am on the brink of purchasing PL8 but this has got me doubting. I come from DXO and there it was never a problem to deactivate through the website. I am in ICT and have the habit of regularly reinstalling my PC, this approach by DXO would run me into problems.
You regularly do a clean reinstall of your computer? How regularly? Why?
I was in IT for 35 years and never went through all that effort except on a couple of occasions when I was having significant issues.

Ditto for 33 years - even with Windows before I switched to Mac.
I’ve been trying for several days to de-activate 2 old computers. Their support drop down list does not include an option for de-activation. There is no way I can contact support with this problem it seems even if I fill in the note section on the support template. There is no other way to get by this roadblock?
The third option is about ‘…downloading, installing, or activating’ so select that option and then explain what you are trying to do in the Subject and Description fields.
Hi Mark. I have been in ICT for 33 years too. I just like to play with my computers, experiment and (too) often buy new ones (to the annoyance of my wife). TBF, I have calmed down a bit in recent years. I understand DXO feel the need to prevent illegal usage of their software. But it would be much nicer if they gave me an option to disable installations I no longer use through an automated procedure, just like CaptureOne does.
If I did clean installs all the time or often bought new ones, I would have licensing issues with many more software titles than just those from DxO.
My computers are serious tools I use for finances, retirement, side businesses, photography, and many other hobbies and interests. Maintaining their stability is always paramount to me. I do not treat them as toys to be played with. If I wanted to to play around and experiment, I would purchase a separate computer explicitly for that purpose.

I had to do reinstalls of Dell laptop as it hadn’t ever been right. It took two installs to get working OK (but not right bue to poor instructions from Dell support). It meant I had to reinstall everything twice and the only programs needing messing about with were DXOs most as said I could deactavate from the program the rest from my account. Yes DXO needs to get its act together as othet can do it. As an asside I am away where I undersood there would be Wi-Fi but there’s not so I hope I hope when I get round to processong I dont get triped up with there other appalling change to needing internet access every month as the laptop is for using away not at home! PS befor some one points out I can comment here I had to go to the local village for a phone signal to check my emails. The joys of Wales.
I replaced my video card, PR4 thought this was a new install. I had to wait 3 days to be able to use what I had paid for.
I am also in IT since 1983, I love to tinker with my computers, replace spindle drives with SSDs and reinstall the OS just to clean it up and start fresh, etc. I agree there is no reason for DXO not to provide the customer with the optio of deactivating and reactivating.
Interesting, I changed graphics cards twice in the last several years. While I don’t own PureRaw I do have licenses for four other DxO products and changing the graphics cards did not have any effect on the installations for any of those products.
Since you like to play around with your computers I’m wondering if you made some other change which might have caused your licensed software to believe it was a new installation on a different machine.
