Must say I’ve always like a dark sky in b&w’s. Most of the time I can achieve it, however there are times, where I may have little or or no tone, just a gray - white sky making it impossible to achieve. Is there a trick that I’m missing?
Do you mean like this?
This was done in PL + FP, by using a red filter on the Fuji Acros 100 emulation
But, if you don’t have any blue, then don’t try darkening parts of white skies. In my experience, that really doesn’t work.
Can you show an example?

Yep thats the look, however sometime nature doesn’t give me what I want Use to hate that fake sky look in Photoshop. Sample of what I’m faced with. For my primary RAW editor I’m using Affinity Photo, 2.6 than I send it into NIK. Silver.
.
Sorry, that’s never going to work, at least, in my opinion. You really need blue sky to convert to dark with the red filter.
With the kind of image you are proposing, the sky just wouldn’t go with the flat light on the rest of the image.
