Creating a preset odd problem

Whenever I would create a preset for a specific file, I would name that preset by copying (Ctrl/C) the file name & then pasting (Ctrl/V) it into preset creator window. That, just out of the blue, decided it doesn’t want to work anymore. I can copy the file name & it shows up on my Clipboard but I can no longer paste it into the preset creator window. Any suggestions on where to look for the problem? What would have changed?

I had no problems with that. I’m on Windows, so maybe it’s something specific to Macs?

BTW, it’s a rather clumsy workaround for missing sidecars in Nik.

“BTW, it’s a rather clumsy workaround for missing sidecars in Nik.”

Why do you say that? Am I missing something here? The only way to retain all the corrections made to a TIF file is to reopen that exact Tif file in Nik, right? That would mean I would have to save that Tif file & that takes up more space on HD. If there is a way for me to recreate an identical jpg file & NOT have to save that TIF file, please enlighten me. This is on a windows computer BTW.

What I meant was that Nik does NOT automatically save your editing settings (editing instructions) in a separate “sidecar” file, associated with the data file, like PhotoLab does. To come back and tune your editing Nik, you have to first save them manually as a preset. These are typically few KB.
